Australian Series: Glitter Gal - Black Holographic

Hi everyone~ One of my biggest lemming since discovering holographic nail polish is to find a black shade. I have since learned that the original OPI My private jet is a black holo but is unfortunately sold at insanely inflated prices. Color Club Revvvolution is a pretty charcoal holo which remains to be my favourite holographic polish. However, it's not black and darn it, I want black! And finally, I received Glitter Gal Black in the mail. It's such a beautiful sunny day that I finally decided to wear the pretty that is Black.

I took too many photos and couldn't decide which ones to post so there's a light spammage of black holo goodness! :) All were taken under direct sunlight unless otherwise stated.

black holo1

I applied two coats of Black onto my nails and finished with a top coat. The polish was slightly thick and is really opaque. If you're careful, you can definitely get away with one and save on the precious polish.

black holo2

Blurry shot to really show off the scattered holographic effect.

black holo3

Indoors, under natural light. It's not much when it's not directly under the sun, but I still love it :) And oops, my top coat is so glossy that my nails reflected my top :P I didn't realise this until I uploaded the photo!

black holo4

And back under the sun. Oh Black, how I adore thee. It's black, it's holographic and just look at the rainbow of colours ♥

Glitter Gal 3D Holographic nail polishes retail for $11.95. Each bottle contains 9mL of polish, which may not seem like a lot for the price - however, true holographic particles are used in their formula. Kerry from Glitter Gal sent me the below information to explain this.
We use “true” holographic particles in our formulation. This one ingredient is 30 times more expensive than any other nail polish ingredient. Thus making our holographic nail polish the highest quality possible. You will notice the smoothness to the finish of polish, and reflective effects are amazing. They are also the “Big 3 Free”.

Many other companies have tried create holographics, but use the more affordable ingredients, which don’t give the polishes the same effect, we didnt want to compromise on quality and wanted to deliver to our customers a true holographic formulation. I hope this helps.
Glitter Gal nail polishes are available online at www.glittergal.com.au and they ship internationally! :) Australian stores such as The Perfume Connection also stock the brand. For more information of stockists both internationally and within Australia, check out the stockist page.

Sweet peacock

Hi everyone ^^ Today I have the prettiest blue polish I have come across, maybe only coming second just a tad behind Zoya Crystal :P Another blue polish which has changed my view of my tips in blue - I love it! Orly Sweet Peacock is from the Birds of a Feather collection and is a bright blue polish which covered exceptionally well. I was surprised since this is a foil polish, but it was wonderfully opaque in one coat! I did two below though, only because I'm used to applying two.

sweet peacock1

I love the silver flecks peeking through the vibrant blue shade - it's definitely not something I own already in my stash!

The entire Birds of a Feather collection is now available in Australia and can be purchased from selected salons and pharmacies, or online at http://www.orlybeauty.com.au/. Orly nail polishes retail for $18.95 in Australia.

Orly - Fowl play

Hello~ From Orly's Birds of a Feather collection, I bring to you Fowl play. This is a delicious red based purple with lots of small flakey particles suspended in it. Flakey!!!! :D Shown below is two coats. I found the polish thick and harder to work with, but the end result definitely makes up for it. Be sure to wait between coats when applying as this will prevent dragging and bald patches. I'm sad we didn't have any sunlight to photograph this lovely in, I'll be sure to sport this when the sun makes an appearance again :)

fowl play1

As you may have noticed, Fowl play looks suspiciously similar to OPI Merry midnight, which was released in 2009 as part of their holiday collection. It has since become a HTF polish - sad, because I've had such major lemmings for it. I don't own Merry midnight so I can't say with 100% confidence that Fowl play is a dupe for it, but they definitely look very, very similar!

fowl play2

I think my lemming's satiated anyhow. Who cannot love this baby - purple and flakey? I'm officially in love ♥

Fowl play and the rest of the polishes from the Birds of a Feather collection are now available in Australia. You can purchase them from selected salons and pharmacies, or online at http://www.orlybeauty.com.au/. Orly nail polish retail for $18.95 in Australia.

Flakey layering

Hey everyone~ It's been such a windy and cold day today - brrrrr, still freezing! And so I battled the cool weather with my warm, navy blue and topped it with some gorgeous flakies. I love me some flakies :D. Shown is two coats of China Glaze First mate and one coat of Nubar 2010 layered over it.
flakey layering

Gosh, I can't get over how fabulous flakies look. If Nfu. Oh's were cheaper, I'd have bottles of flakies hoarded up. If only. Nail polish companies need to start the flakey trend, I'm starting to get really sick of crackles... >< What do you think of the beautiful Nubar 2010?

Glam Slam! England

Hi everyone~ Today I have for you one of the beautiful duo packs from Serena William's Glam Slam! England collection :) With OPI working with so many different people recently, this was one of the few collections which caught my attention. Shown below is two coats of Your royal shine-ness. It's a lovely silver foil which I don't own many of in my stash so it was most definitely welcomed!
glam slam england duo1

I then layered on one coat of Servin' up sparkle. I love, love, love this glitter ♥ It's a silver version of Last Friday night and Teenage dream. Glorious! :D

And under the sun, see the holo glitters come to life!

I can't wait to layer the glitter over other shades. It's going to be amazing :)

OMG, IDK!! :D

Helloooo~ :) It's another partly cloudy, partly sunny day with a sprinkle of strong wind every now and then :P But nothing can really dampen my good mood cos I've got a super duper holographic nail polish and loving it loadsssss ♥

China Glaze IDK is a part of the OMG collection which consists of linear holographic nail polish. Holo! :D I applied two thin coats but I think three would have been better. Oh well. I still think this looks gorgeous.

All the photos are big because I adore this polish :)

Dannii, you're delightful

Hi everyone~! I have the most delightful polish to show today :) Dannii is from Zoya's Initimate collection which was released earlier this year as part of the spring collection. This shade of purple is more cool toned and not normally one I prefer - I like my dark and vampy purples, I do :P However, the beautiful silver flecks really drew me in and I gave in to purchasing this.
dannii1

Dannii definitely doesn't disappoint (how's that for alliteration? :P)! I love the lightness of the purple with the cool shade, what a perfect combo :D

Neon, to fight the gloom

Hi everyone~ :) All last week was filled with rain, rain and more rain over here so I thought I'd fight the gloominess with a bright neon manicure :P.

I used two coats of Sportsgirl Citrus and as with all neons it was sheer, so I started off with one coat of Ulta3 lily white before layering Citrus over it. I applied a coat of OPI Black shatter to soften the brightness a bit ^^
orange cracked

Apologies for the lobster fingers but this was the only photo which showed the true shade of the polish. Personally I'm a bit too afraid of drawing attention to neon shades on my tips so I think shatter/crackle polishes are awesome for layering over them :). What do you think?

A pink manicure

Hello~ :) As most of you know, I'm not a fan of pink or reds on my nails. So I really don't know why I decided to pick out a rare pink nail polish in my stash for this mani :P. I applied two coats of Ulta3 natural spring which is a sheer, pastel pink polish. I then layered two coats of OPI Teenage dream over it, giving it some bling with the beautiful holographic glitter. I had to adjust the photo a bit because the polish came out too light, hence the slightly redder fingers!
piiink!

What do you think of it this mani? I wore this for one and half days before I took it off. For some reason, I just don't like how pink looks on my nails. Anywhere else is fine, just not for a mani :P

Edyta, you beauty ♥

Hello~Just a quick and simple post before I head for the books again :). This is two coats of Zoya Edyta and it's a glorious dark, mossy green with golden flecks swimming in it. It was lovely to apply and even more lovely to wear on my nails ^^ Ahhh, I love each and every one of my Zoyas.

And the blues hit

Hi~^^ For some reason I'm feeling super cheerful even though I'll be sitting in an exam room this time tomorrow...strange thing, emotions are :P. Especially when I was feeling a bit down only a couple of days ago. Hence the blue(ish) mani.
blues1

I applied two coats of Ulta3 spring shower onto my index and pinky nails. I then layered China Glaze White cap onto my index. On my thumb and fourth finger, I applied two coats of China Glaze Caribbean blue. Finally, on my middle finger I have two coats of Ulta3 lily white.

I love how simple but effective this mani looks! Makes me want to try out an ombre mani someday.... :)

Holo and glitter, what more can you ask for?

Hey everyone~ :) I just finished typing up my notes for an upcoming exam and feel like rewarding myself for having a super productive day hehe. Below is two coats of Ulta3 black satin with two coats of OPI Last friday night layered over it. I applied two coats of Color Club Revvvolution to my accent nails. Every time I pull out Revvvolution to wear, a huge smile spreads across my face. It's definitely my favourite holo of all time!♥

And in the sun, when my mani comes to life haha. Look at all that colour from Revvvolution and the beautiful glitter!

Faye, oh Faye ♥

Hello~ Zoya Faye, which is part of the Sunshine collection, was part of my recent ebay haul and one of my most anticipated polishes from the haul. So naturally it was the first one I popped on :P. The polish is so hard to capture, what with the great abundance of gold flecks. Love the gold flecks though, and dimmer lighting my mani actually looked gold rather than pinkish mauve, which is the base colour of the polish.

What do you think of this polish? It's definitely my favourite from the collection and I'm glad I caved and purchased it! :D

The one that got away

Hi everyone~ Gee, this is late for me! I don't usually post at 12am in the morning but I'm procrastinating and don't want to go to bed. Lol, how bad is that? .__.

I have a lovely polish to share in this post though. OPI The one that got away is a part of their recent Katy Perry collection. While I'm not a fan of the singer, I do have to say that I'm loving all the polishes from this collection. Amazing! Shown below is two coats of The one that got away. I'm really happy with this polish, it dried so quickly and was really opaque! As you all probably know by now, I'm not a huge fan of red polishes because I feel they draw too much attention to my hand. But wow, this one is a beauty. I just wish the gold flecks could have transferred better on to the nail.

Here in the macro you can see the almost hidden duochrome from red to purple. I couldn't stop holding my hand in different angles to look at the duochrome :P

And a bottle pic because it looks so pretty.

Soft as cashmere

Hello everyone~ It's winter, it's winter, it's winter! Well, almost. Brrrr, the temperature sure is dropping here in Australia. So what better time to show you this polish than now? :P Color Club Soft as cashmere is a pretty greige shade which I love and don't own many bottles of.

From the vault~ Two coats of Soft as cashmere and sealed with a top coat. I need to pull this out and wear it more often now that it's (almost) winter! :) Photo is taken under the sun.

This layering kick of mine

Hello~ As you may have noticed, I've been really into layering and I can't seem to stop! I love discovering all these new combinations and seeing how the sheerer polishes add a new dimension to an otherwise plain manicure.

This is one coat of Sinful Colors Vela, a beautifully opaque raspberry crème polish. I layered one coat of OPI Teenage dream over it and voilà, another beauty was born :P.
vela + teenage dream1

Teenage dream isn't as sheer as Last friday night but I think it's still a nice layering polish.

Metallic purple

Hi everyone~ Yeah, that's a pretty boring title, but I didn't know what else to name this post :P. Apologies for the lack of posts. Prac has been taking up so much of my time and I come home dead tired every day. I can not wait for weekend to arrive!

This is two coats of L.A. Color Metallic purple which I picked up from a dollar shop last year. I was really into foil finishes back then, which is why I bought it, but I'm not such a huge fan any more. The polish is still nice though, and I love how it looks extremely foily :). It's not really a purple, more like a light mauve shade. I like it all the same though.

Macro shows how foily the polish is.

All hands on deck!

Hello~ One of my major lemmings from China Glaze's Anchors Away collection was Below deck. Dubbed as the dupe to Channelesque, I knew I just had to have it. While nail bloggers have compared the two and declared them as very-similar-but-not-quite-dupes, I think I'm satisfied with Below deck anyway :).

This is two coats of Below deck and no top coat. What a gorgeous and shiny polish <3. My love affair with purples will never die, haha.
below deck1

I layered on one coat of White cap to see what it'd look like. Pretty, but I think there are better combos out there (yeah, I'm looking at you Sew psyched... :P).
