Born Pretty Store pretties

Hello~ This is a scheduled post, as you read this I'm probably on my way to camp for the long weekend :). I'm excited to say that I recently received some products from Born Pretty Store to review. The online store is dedicated to stocking mani nail art and other nail related items. They also stock beauty and make up related items so do check it out if you're interested :)

I thought I'd try out the striping tape first and here's my result. The base polish is China Glaze Wagon trail. Top picture was taken indoors under natural light, the second under the sun. I quite liked how the striping tape added something more to my mani although you can see my inexperience by the dodgy cutting haha. The striping tape stayed on quite well for the two days I wore this mani. I love that they are so simple to use once you're more used to them, I think I'll be ordering some more!

Review: Office Polish-tics

Hello~ :) I'm sneaking in a quick break before diving back into my pile of assignments lol. I wore Misa Office polish-tics a couple of weeks ago whilst on my prac and since it lasted for the week, I thought I'd write up another quick review.

This is two coats of Office polish-tics and I think the photo was taken on the third day of wear. As you can see, no chips or tip wear :D. This lasted until the fifth day when I finally took it off. The polish was slightly thicker than normal, but not thick enough to worry about.

Application: 8/10
Chipping: 10/10
Price: 9/10 (purchased at transdesign.com)

Glitter Gal Fuchsia

Hello~ :) I recently had the opportunity to sample one of Glitter Gal's holographic polishes kindly sent by Kerry.

Fuchsia is exactly what the name states - it's a pretty fuchsia shade which looks amazing under the sun. I used two coats in my swatch and while there was still visible nail line (vnl), it was minimal and I was actually ok with it. The polish was swatched with a base coat, two coats of Fuchsia and no topcoat.

Fuchsia had a lovely application which I was surprised with, I thought the small brush would cause a bit of a problem but nope, it was fine. The polish also dries extremely quickly, it was dry to touch within 5 minutes of application without the aid of a quick dry top coat. It also dries to a glossy finish, which is always a winner :).

How gorgeous does this look under the sun? Holographic polishes are such fun to play with :).

Glitter Gal 3D Holographic nail polishes retail for AUD$11.95 a bottle. For a 9mL bottle of polish, many may look twice, however Glitter Gal uses true holographic particles in their formula, which provides the beautiful holo effect. Kerry sent me the below information which I thought was really insightful so I've quoted it.

We use “true” holographic particles in our formulation. This one ingredient is 30 times more expensive than any other nail polish ingredient. Thus making our holographic nail polish the highest quality possible. You will notice the smoothness to the finish of polish, and reflective effects are amazing. They are also the “Big 3 Free”.

Many other companies have tried create holographics, but use the more affordable ingredients, which don’t give the polishes the same effect, we didn’t want to compromise on quality and wanted to deliver to our customers a true holographic formulation. I hope this helps.

Review: High society

Hi everyone~ Today I'm showing you my go-to-workplace nail polish, I love it loads! :) I started a part of my prac this week and since I had been wearing Color Club High society the entire week, why not review it?

Shown is two coats of High society, taken after four days of wear. As you can see, there's no tip wear or chipping, just a little bit of nail growth. By the end of five days, I was mighty sick of the polish but it was still in it's original condition, beautiful and glossy - I actually had half a mind to leave it on!

Application: 9/10
Chipping: 10/10

Review: Lincoln park after dark suede

Hi~^^ One thing I love about suede polishes is that they dry extremely fast! I didn't have much time for nails last night but I didn't want to have naked nails so I pulled out OPI Lincoln park after dark suede. Too bad the wear isn't so good - all I did was type a little bit (for my assignment due tomorrow~eek!) and go to bed. I woke up this morning and there was already minor tip wear on my nails :(. I even wrapped my tips, which I don't normally do, haha.

The first photo is taken indoors under artificial light and the macro is taken indoors under natural lighting. Funny how the first photo turned out colour accurate rather than the second :P.

Application: 10/10 (I love the OPI formula and brushes! <3)
Chipping: 7/10
Price: 6.5/10 (I paid waaaay too much for this)

Review: Zoya Valerie

Hey all~ I have received a few requests in my giveaway form to post more review-like posts, so here's my first attempt. Let me know what you think of it, anything to add/take away?

Today I have for you another polish from Zoya's Flame collection. Valerie is an extremely pretty purple with copper- gold flecks suspended in it which unfortunately does not show up on the nail. While I am an avid purple lover, I can't seem to love Valerie too much :(. It's such a shame since it receives so much love from bloggers (and hence me purchasing it) but idk, the lack of copper-gold flecks on the nail just makes me so, so sad.

Photo was taken indoors with flash which is the only way you can see the copper-gold flecks.

I wore this polish last week while I was away on a conference camp and could not believe the amount of chipping I was getting! I didn't expect it to stay perfect, but my nails looked absolutely atrocious by Friday and I didn't even do much with my hands except for showering...no activities, no extra stress on the nails, nada! Perhaps this may have something to do with the Zoya formula and it's ability to work well with other top/base coats? :S

Chipping: 4/10
Price: 7/10
